The CARE Clinic has provided free quality health care to eligible uninsured, low income adults who live in Cumberland County since November 16, 1993. We rely entirely on the generosity of donors, grants from foundations and annual fund raising events so that we can continue to provide health care services in our community. We could not do this without the gift of time provided by our volunteer staff: Doctors, Physician Assistants, Nurse Practitioners, Pharmacists, Dentists, Dental Assistants, Nurses, Pharmacy Assistants, Chiropractors, Social Workers and Nutritionists.  They treat our patients with the compassion and care they deserve.  We also rely on the help of our numerous non-clinical staff who help our small staff to do the tasks needed and by serving on our board and committees.

Although the Affordable Care Act (ACA) has enabled some low income individuals to obtain health insurance, it is also true that the need for the charity care given by The CARE Clinic will continue.  Many of our patients are working, but cannot afford the luxury of health care for themselves.  They fall into a "coverage gap"--unable to afford insurance and not qualifying for a subsidy.  Further, they may qualify for one of the many exemptions and not have to pay the fine for being uninsured.
