The CARE Clinic has provided free quality health care to eligible uninsured, low income adults who live in Cumberland County since November 16, 1993. We rely entirely on the generosity of donors, grants from foundations and annual fund raising events so that we can continue to provide health care services in our community. We could not do this without the gift of time provided by our volunteer staff: Doctors, Physician Assistants, Nurse Practitioners, Pharmacists, Dentists, Dental Assistants, Nurses, Pharmacy Assistants, Chiropractors, Social Workers and Nutritionists.  They treat our patients with the compassion and care they deserve.  We also rely on the help of our numerous non-clinical staff who help our small staff to do the tasks needed and by serving on our board and committees.

Since the inception of the Affordable Care Act (ACA), some of the low income patients living in Cumberland County have been able to obtain health insurance.  However, we are hearing from many of them who did have coverage that they did not qualify for government subsidies in 2015 because of cutbacks, so have had to discontinue their plans.  Many in our community may be unaware that these plans are not free to the uninsured; therefore, they are unable to afford even the lowest cost plans.  They must now rely on the services of The CARE Clinic as some of them did before.  Also, because some employers are not providing their employees with insurance coverage as they did last year, we are seeing an increase in the number of patients.
