Assistance with emergency prescriptions, dental extractions, vision aid, & medical travel. Must meet income eligibility requirements. Free diabetes services & free medical equipment loans for 3-6 months, depending on availability. Services for Cumberland County residents only.

*The CARE Clinic

Free basic medical care for adults & basic dental extractions (no wisdom teeth or oral surgery). Orders laboratory/radiological tests & referrals to specialists. Provides medications ordered only during CARE Clinic visits. Requirements include being aged 18-65, must have no insurance or Medicaid, must meet income requirements. Need to provide proof of household income & have a valid NC DMV-issued picture ID card/driver’s license with current address, or Homeless ID.
Call Monday-Thursday, 9:00 am-2:00 pm to make medical appointments; Fridays, 9:00 am-12:00 pm for dental appointments for the following week.

Services include primary medical care for adults & children, complete dental care, substance abuse counseling & treatment, behavioral health services, minor surgical procedures, pharmacy services, & more. Call for appointments, but walk-ins are possible. Sliding based scale, based on income & family size. (For immigrants & migrant farmers: VISAs & Passports are accepted identification)

Adult/child health services & family planning/maternity services based on a sliding scale. Sexually transmitted infection services are free. Patient assistance programs may be available for immunizations for uninsured adults, free for children.

Consultation & medical services for the uninsured. Connects individuals with a primary care home, assigns a case manager, provides medication assistance, & covers labs for chronic health conditions. Must have proof of address, proof of income, & identification card.

Counseling for individuals (children/teens/adults), family therapy, & drug/alcohol counseling. Clients that are uninsured, underinsured, or unable to pay for services due to financial hardship may qualify for assistance.

For veterans, service members, & their families: free services including counseling for depression, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), & psychological effects of military sexual trauma (MST). Call for an appointment; anyone in crisis will have their needs addressed immediately. Forms of proof of service accepted: Discharge documents (DD214, receipt of awards, deployment orders, other documents showing military service). If you do not have documents, they can work with you to establish eligibility. Services may be available outside of regular hours per request.

Transportation

Free transportation to medical appointments & pharmacy medication pick-ups only, for elderly (60+) or disabled (but independently mobile) residents.
Rural General Public and Urban Employment Transportation provides rides to Cumberland County residents who live in a rural or urban area.
Rides are MondayFriday, 5:00 am8:00 pm. Cost is $2.50 for each one-way trip.

Bus transportation for all residents. Passes can be purchased at the FAST Transit Center. Discounted fare for elderly & disabled residents; must complete an application.
