Volunteers Needed

The CARE Clinic relies on the generous time of volunteers to work daytime and evening hours. Both health care professionals and non-health care volunteers are needed.

Health Care Volunteers:	Non-Health Care Volunteers:
Dentist Dental Assistant Chiropractor Dietician Nurse (RN, LPN, CNA) Nurse Practitioner Pharmacist Pharmacy Assistant Physician Physician Assistant Phlebotomist Social Worker Hours: Tues/Thurs and 2nd and 4th Wed-5:30 PM – 8:30 PM	Receptionists for evening clinics Office/Daytime Tasks--(examples:  bulk mailing of newsletters, etc., appointment reminder phone calls to patients, data entry in the computer) Spanish Translators Groundskeeper Maintenance Meal Preparer - for volunteers on clinic nights Volunteer to serve on a CARE Clinic Committee: Clinical Services Committee - monitor delivery of services to patients Community Relations - increase public awareness and support of the clinic (includes the Speaker's Bureau) Development Committee - raise funds to support the clinic's activities (includes the Golf Tournament, Evening of CARE Dinners and Wine Tasting Event) Education - educate the Board regarding the clinic's operations and needs Facilities - securing and maintaining suitable property to support the clinic's needs Volunteer - increase the number and enthusiasm of clinic volunteers Office Hours: 8:30 AM-5 PM, Monday-Friday

MEET A CARE CLINIC VOLUNTEER

In this section we will be randomly highlighting a CARE Clinic volunteer.

Name: Jim Kerchmar Occupation: Retired Army Volunteer Category: Board Member and Chair of the Clinical Services Committee How did you hear about The CARE Clinic?- "Cathy Ory, our Executive Director, told me about the clinic while we were both at a meeting at Cape Fear Valley Hospital." How Long Have You Been at The CARE Clinic & why did you start volunteering? -"I have been volunteering here since November 1996 when Cathy Ory gave my name to Sister Jean Rhoads, the first Executive Director of The CARE Clinic.  I then received a call from Judy Hunt, the Clinical Director at the time, who asked me to come in for a meeting with Sister Jean." What has been your experience at The CARE Clinic? "It is a very rewarding feeling being a part of such a noble organization.  I volunteered in the pharmacy for eight years.  While serving in this capacity, I was asked to be on the Board of Directors and I then joined the Clinical Services Committee." Why do you think others should volunteer here? - "They should not miss out on this opportunity to be of assistance to their neighbors in need."
